Migration Begins: September 21st
The migration of Eir’s network infrastructure and customer base will officially begin at 2:00 AM on September 21st, 2024. The entire process will conclude by 10:00 PM on September 22nd, 2024. During this time, all Eir cell towers will be transferred and integrated into Flop Mobile's Grand Network, and Eir customers will seamlessly migrate to Flop Mobile’s platform.
This transition aims to deliver enhanced network services, faster speeds, 7G+ technology, and greater reliability. Eir’s network towers will reinforce Flop Mobile’s coverage, creating a stronger, more comprehensive network across Floptropica.
Detailed Overview: How the Migration Happens
Network Integration
The migration team will begin by integrating all of Eir’s network assets—including cell towers, fiber lines, and backend infrastructure—into Flop Mobile's systems. Engineers will work in phases to ensure that each cell tower is successfully reconfigured to operate under Flop Mobile’s standards. This involves upgrading the hardware in some cases, rerouting connections, and testing signal strength to match Flop Mobile’s high performance standards.
2. Customer Data Transfer
At the same time, Eir’s customer data—such as account information, mobile plans, and usage history—will be securely transferred to Flop Mobile’s customer systems. Our IT teams are automating this process to ensure minimal disruption. Each customer will receive a Flop Mobile account without needing to take any action.
3. Plan Migration
Once the data transfer is complete, Flop Mobile’s automated system will assign customers to plans that most closely resemble their current Eir services. For example, if a customer is using the Eir Mega plan, they will be moved to the Flop Horny Unlimited plan. Customers are free to choose other available plans if they prefer, and the first two months of their new Flop Mobile plan will be free.
4. Network Testing and Signal Stability
After the integration of Eir cell towers, the network will undergo extensive testing to ensure signal stability and speed consistency. Customers may experience some temporary signal loss during the switchover, but these disruptions will be brief and necessary for system-wide improvements.
5. Fiber Network Migration
Eir’s fiber network will also be merged into Flop Mobile’s Fiber Network, enhancing the availability of high-speed internet in key areas. By combining fiber networks, customers can expect increased bandwidth and faster, more reliable internet speeds.
6. SMS Notifications
As soon as the migration is complete for each customer, they will receive a SMS notification confirming that they’ve been successfully switched to Flop Mobile. The message will contain important details about their new plan, and additional instructions if needed.
7. Service Activation
All customers will receive their updated mobile and fiber services once the integration is finished. Flop Mobile's 7G+ network, which has already been deployed across Floptropica, will be available to all former Eir customers, providing them with the fastest mobile internet speeds in the region.
What Eir Customers Can Expect
- Service Interruption:
As mentioned, customers may notice some service disruptions, especially between Sept. 21 - Sept. 22, while the migration is underway. During this time, mobile internet, voice services, and fiber internet may experience brief outages.
- Improved Network Coverage:
After the migration is complete, customers will benefit from enhanced coverage across the island, thanks to the integration of Eir’s towers into Flop Mobile’s Grand Network.
- Upgraded Services:
Eir customers will now have access to 4G, 5G, and 7G+ technologies, allowing for faster connections and improved network reliability.
CEO’s Statement
Coolwap, CEO of Flop Mobile, said:
This acquisition is not just about moving Eir customers to a superior network—it’s about uniting Floptropica under one powerful mobile and fiber infrastructure. Both Eir and Flop Mobile customers will benefit greatly from this transition. New customers will experience better coverage, faster speeds, and the full range of 7G+ services. This is a win not just for our customers, but for all of Floptropica as we expand our network reach and enhance service quality.
What to Expect for Flop Mobile Customers
Flop Mobile customers will not be impacted by the migration process. You can expect no service interruptions, and you’ll enjoy a larger, more robust network as a result of the added cell towers and expanded fiber network.
Why This Acquisition Happened
The purchase of Eir Floptropica comes after Eir faced significant penalties for failing to provide adequate 4G coverage across Floptropica. If these issues were not resolved by November 2024, Eir would have been required to cease operations. Flop Mobile’s acquisition was finalized after a competitive bidding process that involved PAPI Mobile and two other telecom companies from outside Floptropica. Ultimately, Flop Mobile won the bid, ensuring that Eir customers can continue to enjoy mobile and internet services under Flop Mobile’s superior network.
What’s Next?
The full migration will be complete by 10:00 PM on September 22nd, 2024. After that, all Eir customers will officially become part of Flop Mobile and will benefit from enhanced services, faster speeds, and greater coverage.
Stay tuned for updates, and be sure to check your SMS for notifications about your plan and service changes!
